This article explores the diverse theoretical frameworks that define humor in contemporary linguistics, includingsemantic, semiotic, psychological, and cognitive theories. The study investigates the underlying mechanisms of humorformation, focusing on how cognitive processes such as pattern recognition, script opposition, and contextual reinterpretationcontribute to humor perception. Additionally, the research examines the role of cultural and social contexts inshaping humor, emphasizing its significance as a cognitive stimulus that enhances mental flexibility and social communication.
