Lexico-grammatical transformations in translating historical-memorial texts: strategies for rendering realia and archaisms

Annotatsiya

Historical-memorial texts represent a distinctive type of institutional discourse in which linguistic, cultural, and historical information is closely interconnected. Their translation requires not only semantic accuracy but also preservation of cultural identity, historical authenticity, and stylistic characteristics. This study investigates the lexico-grammatical transformations employed in translating historical-memorial texts, with particular emphasis on rendering culture-specific realia and archaisms. A qualitative- descriptive research design, supported by quantitative analysis, was adopted to examine a bilingual corpus of historical and memorial texts.
