Annotatsiya

The aim of this retrospective study was to investigate the features of neurological disorders in pediatric patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Patients receiving inpatient treatment in the nephrology department of the National Children's Center in Tashkent city were included in the study. Electronic medical records were reviewed to collect demographic data such as age, gender, and information on any prior central nervous system (CNS) disease or related symptoms. Neurologic examination data and magnetic resonance imaging findings were also collected. The most frequently identified renal pathologies were neurogenic bladder and cystic kidney disease, and the predominant neurologic manifestation was neurocognitive syndromes. Boys suffered more neurologic sequelae compared to girls, and the prevalence of neurologic abnormalities was higher among patients older than seven years of age. Chronic kidney disease was most commonly seen in stage 5. Most children with neurologic impairment required hemodialysis as part of their treatment plan. The study emphasized the increased risk of neurocognitive impairment in patients with chronic kidney disease. It emphasized the importance of considering the type of treatment and renal diagnosis when assessing potential central nervous system involvement in chronic kidney disease.
