Annotatsiya

This article examines the major differences between literal translation and pragmatic adaptation within the field of Translation Studies. The research focuses on how translators balance linguistic accuracy and communicative effectiveness while transferring meaning from the source language into the target language. The study applies qualitative analysis to selected translation examples and investigates the impact of cultural context, communicative intention, and audience expectations on translation choices. The findings demonstrate that literal translation preserves structural and lexical features of the original text, whereas pragmatic adaptation prioritizes contextual meaning and reader comprehension. The article concludes that pragmatic adaptation is more effective in intercultural communication when cultural or contextual equivalence is required.
