This article explores the representation of cultural mentality in translation, focusing on how translators mediate between linguistic structures and culturally embedded meanings. Cultural mentality refers to the shared worldview, values, and cognitive patterns of a linguistic community, which are often deeply embedded in language. The study examines how these mental constructs are preserved, transformed, or lost in translation. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the article analyzes key translation strategies such as domestication, foreignization, and cultural substitution. The findings suggest that successful translation requires not only linguistic competence but also deep intercultural awareness. The study highlights that cultural mentality is often the most challenging aspect of translation, especially in literary and folkloric texts, where implicit meanings dominate. The article concludes that translators act as cultural mediators who reconstruct meaning rather than merely transfer words.
