The systemic assessment was conducted and the efficacy of various treatment strategies for syringomyelia associated with Chiari malformation type I was examined based on analyzed literature data. The optimal treatment strategy for such patients was determined. This strategy includes well-timed decompression of posterior cranial fossa performed adequately upon indications and focused on improving of life quality and prevention of patients’ disability.
