Annotatsiya

This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the policy of the English and Russian empires towards the territory of Central Asia and the contradiction between their strategic interests based on historical sources during the 19th century. The study examines the interrelationship of the Russian Empire's policy of southward expansion, the British Empire's strategy for protecting its Indian colonies, diplomatic relations, intelligence activities, and the struggle for control over trade routes. It also scientifically substantiates the geopolitical importance of Central Asia, the foreign policy position of the khanates in the region, and the impact of the empires' rivalry on the political and economic development of the region. The results of the study show that the conflict of interests between England and Russia is a component of global geopolitical processes, which significantly influenced the historical development of the region.
