Annotatsiya

This article provides an in-depth review of impaired nutrient absorption in the small intestine, with a particular focus on celiac disease as a leading cause. Malabsorption syndrome (MAS) is described as a multifactorial pathological condition resulting in inadequate assimilation of essential nutrients due to disturbances in enzymatic digestion, mucosal transport, immune regulation, and intestinal integrity. The digestive process is examined in its sequential phases—luminal and membrane digestion—emphasizing the critical role of enterocyte-bound enzymes and transmembrane transporters.
