Diagnosis of functional gastrointestinal (GI) disorders in patients with constipation and the choice of treatment tactics is an important task in modern gastroenterology. Constipation can be the result of many factors, including disorders of intestinal motility, changes in microflora, stress reactions and improper nutrition. This review presents diagnostic methods and the basis of treatment of functional gastrointestinal disorders associated with constipation.
