The article discusses one of the promising areas of innovative development — the advanced processing of industrial waste, in particular, spent adsorbents containing aluminum oxide. A systematic approach is presented for the reuse of such materials as raw sources for the synthesis of aluminum hydroxide and catalyst supports. Technological solutions for the production of aluminates and coagulants are discussed, including stages of co-precipitation, aging, and component transformation, as well as the environmental and economic aspects of recycling. Special attention is given to the potential for controlling the morphological characteristics of the materials, which enables the design of sorbents and catalysts with tailored properties.
