This article explores how to teach tone production and musical expressivity on the flute using Gaubert’s Sonatine quasi fantasia. As a work rooted in the French flute tradition, it combines technical control with expressive freedom, making it valuable for advanced students. The study focuses on integrating tone and expression through breath control, tonal flexibility, vibrato, phrasing, articulation, and timing. Selected passages highlight common challenges and offer practical teaching strategies to develop tone color and musical intention. The article concludes that Gaubert’s Sonatine quasi fantasia is an effective tool for developing a refined, flexible, and expressive flute sound.
