Annotatsiya

This article investigates the intersection of phraseology and morphological compounding, focusing on the mechanisms by which phraseological units emerge within compound noun structures. Drawing on the classical tripartite classification of phraseological units proposed by Vinogradov and the stability parameters articulated by Kunin, the study examines how compound nouns such as blackbird, pickpocket, and hangover undergo processes of idiomatization, metaphorization, and lexicalization that transform compositional word combinations into non-compositional, semantically opaque phraseological units. The article reviews structural models of compound noun formation—including N+N, Adj+N, V+N, and Prep+N patterns—and analyzes how each model facilitates or constrains phraseological fixedness. The discussion synthesizes findings from recent studies on compound noun morphology, contextual transformation of phraseological units, and degrammaticalization processes, offering a comprehensive theoretical framework for understanding how compounding and phraseology converge in natural language.
