This article examines the development of housing construction and housing and communal services under the influence of economic, demographic and urbanization factors in providing the population of Uzbekistan with high-quality and affordable housing, as well as issues of improving mortgage lending mechanisms as a tool for providing housing to all segments of the population. It also substantiates the “housing affordability index” adequate to the current level of socio-economic development of the country.
