This article discusses port scanning to detect illegal network activity. Port scanning and various pings, as well as the role of protocols are shown. Through these methods, it is possible to determine the status of ports and attacks on them, control them and take measures. Various protocols also play a role in port scanning. ICMP-Internet Control Message Protocol is one of them.
