Inson tug‘ilishidan boshlab, avval instinktiv tarzda-mustaqil, so‘ng shartli refleks asosida o‘zi yoki «o‘rgatuvchilar» ota-ona, tarbiyachi, o‘qituvchi yordamida turli hayotiy zarur harakat ko‘nikmalarini shakllantirib boradi. O‘z navbatida hayot, turmush, mehnat, sport, mudofaa va hokazo omillar shu ko‘nikmalarni tezkorlik, kuchlilik, chaqqonlik, chidamkorlik va ma’lum darajada egiluvchanlik bilan ijro etish ehtiyoji tug‘iladi. Ana shu jismoniy qobiliyatlar qanchalik shakllangan bo‘lsa, barcha turdagi harakat ko‘nikmalari yurish, yugurish, sakrash, to‘xtash, osilib chiqish va hokozalar shu jumladan, sportga xos texnik-taktik malakalar, shunchalik uzoq muddat davomida tezkorlik, chaqqonlik yuksak kuch, chidamkorlik bilan ijro etilishi mumkin. Har bir jismoniy sifat o‘z navbatida bir-biri bilan uzviy bog‘liq bo‘lib, bir jismoniy sifatni shakllanishi, ikkinchi bir jismoniy sifatga ko‘chishi kuzatiladi.
