The article examines the following groups of factors that influence the development of a teacher’s professional competence: changes in the teacher’s leading activities, the social situation of development and the subjective characteristics of the teacher. Research works by various authors, publications and empirical studies have made it possible to identify and analyze the key factors that determine the development of a teacher’s professional competence in each of these groups.
