The article describes the life and work of Obidzhon Mahmudov, editor and publisher of the newspaper “Sadoi Fargona”, the first newspaper published in the Uzbek language in the Fergana Valley. The article analyzes the history of the origin, formation and development of the national press in Fergana, reveals the concepts of "Jadid newspapers and magazines", "private printing house" and "Kengash". The article paid much attention to the political and social activities of O. Makhmudov. Obidzhon Makhmudov (1871-1936), not only an editor and publisher, but also considered the first mining engineer of the people. He was one of the few who could defend not only his rights, but also the interests of his people. The article also contains previously unpublished archival data.
