This article examines the issue of mandatory video recording of interrogations, offering a comprehensive analysis of international experiences, particularly those of Japan, the United States, Canada, and Poland, as well as the views of leading scholars in the field. The study identifies and explores two principal categories of advantages associated with the video documentation of interrogations: (1) the protection and enforcement of human rights during investigative procedures, and (2) the procedural compliance of interrogations with criminal justice standards. Each category is supported by specific examples and detailed discussion of relevant legal, procedural, and practical factors. Although some potential drawbacks of video recording are acknowledged, the paper emphasizes its overall benefits. Based on comparative legal analysis, the authors advocate for the introduction of new legislative provisions and the amendment of existing norms in the Criminal Procedure Code of Uzbekistan to mandate the use of video recording during interrogations.
