The article discusses the issues of formulating the legal basis for the protection of individual rights and freedoms at the pre-trial stage of the criminal process. At the same time, as one of the most important tools for ensuring and protecting such rights, the relevance and necessity of introducing a new procedural figure into the criminal process of the Republic of Uzbekistan – a judge overseeing the investigation, which will ensure the fulfillment of our country's obligations to comply with international standards of justice, primarily objectivity, transparency, etc.
