In the early 20th century, Tashkent witnessed the emergence of its first national newspapers, driven by the efforts of modern thinkers. “Taraqqiy”, published on June 27, 1906, holds the distinction of being the first Uzbek newspaper with a national ethos. Subsequently, newspapers such as “Khurshid”, “Tujjor”, “Shuhrat” and “Osiyo” featuring articles and speeches imbued with national sentiments, were active in Tashkent at various times.
