This article is devoted to the role of the prosecution authorities in the system of state power in the context of globalization and democratic reforms, as well as the issues of improving their accountability mechanisms. Analyzing the role of the prosecution authorities in ensuring the rule of law and protecting human rights, it is emphasized that the effectiveness of the system directly depends on the balance between its independence and accountability. In the process of writing the article, formal-legal, comparative-legal, systemic-structural, and statistical methods were used. The article explores in detail the constitutional and legal foundations of the prosecutor’s office in the conditions of New Uzbekistan, in particular, the accountability of the Prosecutor General to the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and the two-stage mechanism of parliamentary oversight. Also, based on international experience (South Korea, Greece) and standards of international organizations (UN, IAP), existing legal gaps in the system are indicated. In particular, the necessity of clarifying the procedure for accountability of the Military and Transport Prosecutor’s Offices, Department for Combating Economic Crimes and Bureau of Compulsory Enforcement under the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan at the legislative level is substantiated. At the end of the study, practical proposals were put forward for the adoption of the Law “On the Prosecutor’s Office” in a new edition, strengthening the accountability of the prosecution authorities in a separate chapter and transforming the prosecutor’s office into a genuine “People’s Prosecutor's Office”. At the same time, it is scientifically grounded that real accountability to the public and representative bodies is a guarantee of the independence of the prosecutor's office and protects the system from corrupt pressures.
