Annotatsiya

This article examines the formation and development of retrospective approaches in portraiture, starting from the 1920s; the peculiarity of interpretation of classical traditions of Eastern and Western art is revealed. Special attention is paid to the analysis of the retrospective concept in the works of A. Isupov and A. Nikolaev. For the first time, the creative quests of D. Stepanov, O. Tatevosyan, G. Nikitin, and B. Pestinsky, who relied on various traditions of European classical art, are also studied.
