В статье описывается о формировании и становлении музейного дела и сбора материалов Хорезмской археолого-этнографической экспедицией и другими крупными экспедициями на территории Каракалпакстана. В основном исследовалось хозяйство, семейный быт, традиции, обряды, декоративно-прикладное искусство каракалпаков - как неотъемлемая часть материальной культуры.
