This article analyzes the cultural transformation of the social structure and the processes of the emergence of marginal strata and statuses in society. A comprehensive study of marginality as a multi-layered sociocultural and sociological phenomenon is becoming urgent and modern in transforming societies. An understanding of the concept of marginality in the views of representatives of the Chicago School of Sociology is given, the social, cultural and psychological aspects of this phenomenon are considered, the conditions for the emergence of marginal forms are studied. The article reveals the content of the concept of "cultural marginality" in the aspect of the sociology of culture. Some common and unified understanding of marginalization is shown, which allows it to be applied in sociology, including in the context of cultural processes and processes in the youth environment. At the same time, the negative connotation of marginalization is characterized as not taking into account the dynamics of changes in modern society.
