Annotatsiya

As is well known, although sociology has come a short way in its formation, in this process a variety of methodological approaches has been formed. This article presents research data on the emergence of sociology as an independent social science based on positivist methodology, as well as the gradual development of a rationalist theory. According to the essence and content of rationalistic ideas, it is the conscious activity of people that constitutes the basis for the formation of social life. The principle of rationalism serves as the spiritual foundation of the mechanism for the implementation of social development. The article focuses on the genesis and evolution of rationalistic ideas from the point of view of sociology, from the stage of its formation to today's research. At the same time, the author turned his attention to the scientific heritage of the classics-thinkers: Ferdinand Tönnis and Max Weber, as well as to the research of modern sociologists.
