The article deals with environmental problems in Uzbekistan which stress that the Aral tragedy that negatively affects the global ecosystem. The great attention is paid to the strategic directions of ensuring environmental security of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the international factors that influence on the country's internal policy, including the national Uzbek environmental policy, are highlighted and contributed to the process of ecological integration of Uzbekistan into the world community. Special attention is paid to the issues of involving civil society as an equal partner of the state organizations in performing of the environmental functions. The environmental movement not only attracts the attention of the public and authorities to various aspects of environmental issues but also expands the scope of activity of civil society. The article shows the social practice of eco-movement in the formation and implementation of country’s environmental policy.
