Annotatsiya

The article examines the raw material sources for metallurgy and foreign trade relations of the Khiva Khanate in the 18th–19th centuries. It studies the accounts of Russian envoys, officers, and local authors regarding the ancient mines of Sultonuvays and Shaykhjalil. Special attention is given to the role of Khivan merchants in trade with the Russian Empire, including the export of gold and silver coins, ingots, and other goods. The analysis shows that, besides local deposits, the Khanate largely relied on foreign trade for securing metallurgical raw materials.
