The article, based on sources, archival documents, and works by foreign andlocal authors, examines the place of the principalities of Karshi, Shakhrisabz,Kitab, Guzar, Yakkabagh, and Chirakchi in the political history of the BukharaEmirate in the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The works of theintelligentsia also revealed the negative consequences of the emir's struggle withlocal beks.
