Annotatsiya

The article is dedicated to the analysis of one of the essential issues of literature -- aesthetic ideal on examples of the two novel protagonists. The twentieth century prominent novelist Sinclair Lewis was the first in American literature to describe the world of science in his novel “Arrowsmith”. The hero of the novel Martin reflects the author’s aesthetic ideals about a truly intellectual man. Pirimkul Kodirov’s “Three roots” is considered to be the first novel describing students’ life in Uzbek prose. Mahkam, the main hero of the novel, and his mentors mirror P. Kodirov’s ideals about contemporary intellectual men. In the comparison of Martin and Mahkam, the art of character creation, the authors’ literary originality and similar techniques are analyzed.
