This article is devoted to the trade and economic relations of the Turkestanregion with the Russian Empire in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, inparticular, the role of the city of Kokand in the trade and economic life of theTurkestan Governorate General. The study provides historical facts that thegovernment of tsarist Russia created more comfortable conditions for conductingcolonial financial policy in the region and sought to integrate its financialinstitutions into the Central Asian region. The integration of Russian financialinstitutions had an impact on the further penetration of imperial capital, mainly intothe cotton industry.
