The article is devoted toanalyzing the quality of etymologicalinterpretations of Russian writers’ surnamesgenerated by artificial intelligence. Accurate anderroneous responses are identified, and typicaldeviations are systematized. A tendency towardsimplification and pseudo-etymology is noted. Thestudy emphasizes the necessity of criticallyevaluating AI-generated results in the context ofhumanities research.
