This article investigates the identification of factors influencing the prediction of urbanization levels, using the Samarkand region as a case study. The study analyzed 131 indicators (spanning 2000–2024) encompassing demographic, social, economic, and infrastructural parameters. Using the Mutual Information (MI) method, the 32 most significant factors were selected. The results serve as a basis for identifying the primary driving forces of urbanization processes in the Samarkand region and for forecasting future urbanization trends.
