This article examines comprehensively the history of the formation of the international drug control system, which laid the foundation for the conventional mechanism for regulating turnover of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors. The author of the article analyzes the arguments and opinions of scientists describing the stages of adoption of international regulations aimed at ensuring drug control. At the same time, an important condition for an effective system of international drug control is the continuous improvement of the regulatory framework and analysis of the emerging drug situation for the implementation of appropriate measures at the global level. In the context of the modern development of the drug situation in Central Asia, there is a need to analyze universal international conventions, and study new international treaties in force in the field of combating transnational organized crime and drug trafficking in order to take adequate measures to counter drug trafficking.
