This article examines the prospects for improving international cooperation in combating drug addiction, the problem of consumption of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, and its negative consequences. In particular, international documents aimed at combating drug addiction were analyzed, including the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs of 1961, the Convention on Psychotropic Substances of 1971, as well as a number of other foreign and domestic legal documents. The global scale of drug use and its negative consequences are highlighted, as well as the importance of international cooperation in addressing such problems as organized crime and corruption. National and international efforts in that regard and the role of international organizations, including the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), in ensuring their successful implementation are highlighted. The importance of establishing effective international cooperation in combating drug addiction and coordinating the legislative framework of countries in this area was emphasized.
