The article investigates the importance of improving the methodological preparation of physical education teachers and of developing social and personal competence as a scientific and pedagogical problem. It generalizes the views of foreign and local researchers. The principles as well as the theoretical and pedagogical aspects of the professional development of physical education teachers are scientifically substantiated.
