Annotatsiya

This article examines the development of intercultural communicative competence in English language teaching. In the modern globalized world, English is used not only as a means of linguistic communication, but also as a tool for intercultural interaction among people from different cultural, social, and educational backgrounds. Therefore, English language teaching should focus not only on grammar, vocabulary, and language skills, but also on learners’ ability to understand cultural differences, respect diverse perspectives, and communicate appropriately in intercultural contexts. The article discusses the pedagogical importance of integrating cultural content, authentic materials, discussions, role-plays, project- based activities, and comparative cultural analysis into English lessons. Special attention is given to the development of learners’ cultural awareness, tolerance, empathy, critical thinking, and ability to avoid stereotypes in communication. The article concludes that intercultural communicative competence is an essential component of modern English language education and should be systematically developed through communicative, student-centered, and culturally responsive teaching practices.
