Annotatsiya

The article examines the peculiarities of the assimilation of English idioms in the Russian-speaking environment and analyzes the influence of the cultural specificity of phraseological units on their perception by Russian speakers. The study is conducted within the framework of linguocultural, cognitive, and comparative approaches. The research material consists of a corpus of English idioms, including both commonly used and modern globalized phraseological units. The study identifies fully assimilated, partially assimilated, and culturally marked idioms. The analysis demonstrates that the degree of assimilation is largely determined by the universality of the figurative basis of a phraseological unit, the level of its cultural transparency, and the frequency of its use in media discourse. Particular attention is paid to the transformation of imagery in the interlingual transfer of idioms and to the influence of globalization processes on contemporary phraseology.
