AUTONOMIC NERVOUS SYSTEM DAMAGE AND DIAGNOSTICS IN RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

The relationship between the pathology of the nervous and immune systems is known. Immune disorders, manifested by the formation of autoantibodies to various components of body tissues, have a variety of clinical manifestations, including damage to the nervous system. The purpose of the study was to improve the immunodiagnosis of autoimmune connective tissue diseases (in particular, rheumatoid arthritis) using immobilized magnetically controlled sorbents based on myelin basic protein (MBP) and S–100 protein. Elevated levels of antibodies (Abs) to MBP were detected in 39.4% of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and antibodies to the S–100 protein were detected in 32.4% of patients with RA. In all cases, the studied indicator correlated with the degree of activity of the pathological process. High levels of antibodies to MBP and protein S–100 in RA were associated with damage to the central nervous system (CNS) and peripheral nervous system (PNS). A decrease in the content of serum antibodies to MBP and to protein S–100 during treatment makes it possible to use this indicator as an additional criterion for assessing its effectiveness.
