Annotatsiya

Soil salinity is a major environmental stress factor that negatively impacts plant growth and development, including the synthesis of photosynthetic pigments necessary for photosynthesis and overall plant metabolism. This study examined the effect of salinity on chlorophyll content in locally bred cotton. The experiment involved medium-fiber Gossypium hirsutum L. (Malvaceae) and 10 cotton varieties, and assessed leaf chlorophyll content under salt (NaCl) stress in a phytotron. The aim of the study was to assess the impact of salinity on total chlorophyll levels. The results showed a significant decrease in chlorophyll levels with increasing salinity. Chlorophyll relative fluorescence units (RFU) gradually decreased, with the greatest decrease observed at the highest salinity levels. The study showed that soil salinity impairs chlorophyll synthesis in cotton, indicating the impact of salt stress on the physiological process of plant photosynthesis. In the studies, the Bukhoro-102, Bukhoro-6, and Namangan-102 cotton varieties demonstrated high tolerance to the relative fluorescence unit (RFU) of chlorophyll in leaves compared to other varieties
