This article is devoted to the analysis of the development of рaleolithic archeology and research in the territory of Uzbekistan until the mid-60s of the 20th century. It was emphasized that until the 1930s there was very little information about Paleolithic monuments in Uzbekistan and they were random finds. The initial work consisted of recording finds and assembling collections from them, and the research did not have a scientific or theoretical basis. Only in the second half of the 30s of the 20th century, as a result of the archaeological expeditions, the first comprehensive research began to be carried out. In the first twenty years after the Second World War, the geography of the areas where the monuments of the Paleolithic era were found and the number of monuments expanded are explained in this article.
