This article examines in detail the state programs adopted in the framework of social protection of the population, prevention of decline in the standard of living of the population, the problems in the sectors of the social sphere in the 1990s during the gradual transition to a market economy of Uzbekistan. At the same time, special attention is paid to the priority directions of social policy, the new system of social protection, the issues of targeted and targeted protection and its deepening, stabilization of welfare and incomes of the population.
